Meet Alina, one of our veteran housekeepers who has worked in the Chicago area for more than 10 years with a reputation that definitely precedes her. At our request, Alina is sharing some of her top-secret cleaning tips!

1. To keep your toilet bowl fresh and white, use bubbling denture cleaning tablets.

2. Cheesecloth (yes!) will keep your vacuum working for many years to come. Place a thin piece of the material (available at any fabric store) at the top of the vacuum hose before inserting the duster tip to keep small fragments from antiques or old books from getting stuck in the vacuum rings.

3. If you need to remove wax from your tablecloth after a dinner party, place the cloth in the freezer overnight. The next day, peel the remaining wax off. If there is remaining residue, cover with a piece of paper cut from a grocery bag and use a heated iron to lift any stains.

4. The all purpose cleaner Simple Green is great at removing lipstick stains from fine linens.

5. Eliminate all possibility of dust mites or bacteria from your mattress by using a semi-pro Rowenta Steamer Iron on the bare mattress every three months.

Full-Time Nanny Needed- Los Angeles, CA

Private family with two young children is seeking a true career nanny for a full-time live-out position. The candidate should be available to work a flexible schedule (typically 12-8) including evenings and also to travel with the family for extended periods of time if necessary. Family would prefer a candidate with long-term references and a minimum of 4 years in a private household with young children. Degree in elementary education is a plus but not required. Candidate must be a career nanny looking for a stable position with a family for at least 2 years.  Impeccable references are a must. Competitive salary plus great perks.

Part-Time Housekeeper Needed- Chicago, IL (Roscoe Village)

Family with one young daughter is looking for a part-time housekeeper/family assistant for 15-20 hours per week. Family would love a proactive staff member who functions as a house manager type--someone who can wear many hats and is always eager to help. Schedule is flexible but requires at least 3 days per week--ideally mornings. daily cleaning and organizing, family errands, grocery shopping, laundry, sorting mail and coordinating general upkeep of the home and schedules.  Housekeeping is the main focus of this position but family would love a child-friendly housekeeper who can occasionally assist with childcare. Family would love cooking help too though not a deal breaker. Must drive and have clean driving record.

Ideal candidate can start immediately and has their own car--Spanish speaking is a plus and college educated is preferred. Salary $12-16/hour DOE.

Part-Time Housekeeper Needed- Chicago, IL (Lakeview)

Lakeview family with two young children is looking for a great detail-oriented housekeeper to join their household. Housekeeper will be responsible for assisting a stay-at-home mother with daily housekeeping and organization of large single family home, grocery shopping and various errands. Housekeeping responsibilities include making beds and general straightening, family laundry and bedding; dust and polish furniture; sweep, and mop floors; maintain bathrooms; and vacuum. Family would love a proactive staff member who functions as a house manager type--someone who can wear many hats and is always eager to help. Family would like someone who is honest, quick to complete tasks, gentle, not overly bearing, and health conscious. Candidate must be punctual, reliable, energetic, intensely motivated, and most importantly love children. Spanish speaking is a plus.

Schedule is 3-5 days per week, flexible for the right person. Sample schedule may be Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 7:30-5:30. Ideal candidate has weekend availability and can occasionally spend the night. A driver is preferred, and a clean driving record is a must. Family has no pets.

Ideal candidate can start immediately, has their own reliable vehicle, and is looking to make a long-term commitment. Salary $12-17/hour, DOE.

House Manager Needed- New York, NY

Extremely reliable, experienced, articulate, and knowledgable House Manager needed for a high-profile household in Manhattan. House Manager must have previous experience overseeing a minimum of 4 other staff members. Ideal candidate is a self-starter, with 5-7 years experience in the NYC area and at least 2+ years with the same employer. House Manager must have a degree from a 4-year university. This is not an entry-level position--family will not interview candidates who do not meet ALL of the above requirements. 
Duties include calendar and travel scheduling/maintenance, managing staff, overseeing vendors and contractors, and coordination of events. 


Schedule is live-out, Monday-Friday 9-7 pm most days. Flexibility for travel and occasional odd hours are required. Salary is up to $125K plus bonus and benefits, DOE.

Opening for a professional, career live-In Nanny/Governess based in New York with frequent travels to Palm Beach, Florida. Nanny will be responsible for one boy, age 4. Position is 6 days per week, and requires an extremely flexible nanny who has little commitments and therefore able to travel extensively. This position requires 10+ years experience as a nanny, with live-in experience preferred. Childhood education or psychology degree a plus. Full-time living accommodations provided. Salary is up to $80K plus benefits. Start is immediate.
