Family of six (4 young children) based in Glencoe, IL is looking for a permanent private chef to join their busy household. Normal schedule includes afternoon snacks and dinner 4 nights per week (Monday-Thursday). When entertaining guests, preparation of weekend dinners (Friday-Sunday) is required. Family requires frequent weekend hours during the summer and heavy entertaining months, and ideally the chef will be able to travel to nearby second home in Wisconsin. Duties when traveling include preparation of all lunches, dinners, laying out self-service continental breakfast, and Sunday brunch. Family would love a chef with a self-start attitude--for instance, providing light snacks and cocktails for guests throughout the day during times of entertaining.
This role has the ability to incorporate house management duties—someone who could manage two current employees as his/her “right hands” to get all of the tasks completed and ensure the home is running smoothly. Chef who is well-versed in Italian cooking or who would be willing to follow Italian recipes would be preferred. This is not a formal household. Family enjoys cooking themselves as well, and would love a chef who doesn't mind "sharing the kitchen" at times. Ideal start date will be prior to Thanksgiving--family will be entertaining a large group this year and would love to start acclimating the chef as soon as possible.
